FUT 21: FIFA Points banned in The Netherlands

The decision to ban FIFA Points was approved yesterday at the court in The Hague. A fine of € 250,000 per week of up to € 500,000 will be issued to EA Sports if FIFA Points are not withdrawn from the game.

This case has been taking place since 2018 and on October 29th, a verdict was made.

EA made an argument stating that the content of the FUT packs was only valuable in-game and could not be turned into real money. However, this argument was not sufficient for the judge who ordered that the loot boxes to be deactivated within three weeks if EA wants to avoid the fine.

According to Dirk Scholing (National Director of EA Benelux), EA will appeal the ruling.

If FUT Packs and FIFA Points are removed from FIFA, this could have a detrimental impact on professional players that live in the country.

We will likely receive new information surrounding the case very soon.
